Dürnstein Castle (ruins)

At the end of the 12th century, Richard the Lionheart King of England, previously captured in Vienna, was taken to the Dürnstein Castle (Germ. Burgruine Dürnstein). A high ransom was demanded. The silver thus obtained allowed i.a. to minting Austrian coins.
