The European ground squirrel (Spermophilus citellus) is an animal mentioned on road signs in Austria, for example this one at Darscho (Warmsee) in the Lake Neusiedl-Seewinkel National Park (German: Nationalpark Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel) or in the market town of Engelhartstetten in Gänserndorf District.
