Devín Castle
Devín Castle (Slovak: Hrad Devín, German: Burg Devín, Polish: Zamek Devín). Cautiously taking steps on the stone causeway that was the last part of the land separating the Danube from the Morava that flowes into it, I wondered how close was the castle hill on the Slovak side.
The Devin Castle was at my fingertips, but I couldn’t get any closer to it. The sandy beach encouraged me to stay in this most southern Weinviertel headland and I didn’t decide to cross the border in any way. The reward for patiently staying in place was seeing a Great cormorant in the sky just passing one of the towers.
